Hippocrates, the ancient Greek physician and “father of medicine” said “let food be thy medicine”. It goes hand in hand with the words meant literally ,in 1826, by Anthelme Brillat-Savarin and in a spiritual sense by Ludwig Andreas Feuerbach, in 1863,”you are what you eat”. Flash forward to present-day and both appear to be right on target, “man cannot live on bread alone”. These quotes come to mind when I reflect on everything it takes for an individual to be healthy and balanced. We can eat carrots “till the cows come home” yet not be healthy if we are not balanced in our relationships, work, spirituality, relaxation, home cooking, exercise, etc.
